April in May

Hello evocations-and-illuminations! Let us get started.

To the left is an image of a print from my recent thesis show at the Dewberry Gallery of SCAD . Entitled April, it is an etching with chine-collé. (What chine-collé means is that I sandwiched a piece of thin Eastern paper in between the inked plate and the heavier Western rag paper as I printed the image on the press. The Eastern paper has the handwritten text and the finely drawn lines at the top of the image. The vertical lines, and the warm tone across the image, are on the plate.)

This piece is part of a larger series of month-titled prints that derive from a prose-poem that I wrote.
