Reading Room

The ACA Library of SCAD’s tumblr page has some lovely images from the opening reception for Folding the Story. Classroom discussions in Lisa Hart’s Experimental Bookbinding course led us to consider the “best”ways to exhibit artists’ books. Since the pieces all function over time (turning pages, pulling slides, opening drawers), we felt that it was imperative to let viewers have an evening to look through the books. Thus our opening reception turned the Trois Gallery into a reading room, allowing visitors (with clean hands!) to handle and read the books. It was a great success. The books are on display until July 29th in the glass vitrines in the library.

In other news: one of the embroidery pieces is complete, Art Smarts Camp is in full swing, and the SCAD Summer Sessions screen printing classes finished with some exceptional first-time prints!
